JM 2009: Sergey Kudentsov’s Debut With Polygon Sweetnice

KUALA LUMPUR: Russian sprinter, Sergey Kudentsov will make his first appearance with Polygon Sweet Nice from Indonesia during Jelajah Malaysia (JM) 2009, which will be held from 19th to 26th this month.

Execcutive Chairman Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz said that the 31-year old rider will strengthen the team especially during the flats and finish of each race.

"JM will be the first event for Kudentsov who had just signed-up with Polygon Sweet Nice early this month as he previously ridden for Marco Polo.”   

"We are sure that with his presence, the challenge among riders will be taken to another level especially for the previous JM sprint jersey holder, Anuar Manan to defend the jersey," he quoted.

Kudentsov who hails from Rostov on Don, Russia had won two stages of Tour of Hainan 2007 and he is actively involved in track race in the pursuit event.

Astaman said that Kudentsov will be teaming-up with another sprinter of the team, Artemiy Timofeev who is also from Russia.

He added that the team from Surabaya will also be lining-up two riders from Kazakhstan, Artyom Golovaschenko and Kiril Kavantsev while the other two who make the team are Indonesian local riders, Hari Fitrianto and Herwin Jaya.

"The collaboration of riders from three countries is balance in terms of strength in the flats and climb respectively. This team will be a force to be reckoned with in the race to be the winner of JM 2009," he said.

Apart from Polygon Sweet Nice, another 20 teams will fight it off in JM 2009 are Malaysian National Team, Indonesian National Team, Thailand National Team, Tabriz Petrochemical Team (Iran), Islamic Azad University Team (Iran), Shimano Racing Team (Japan), Aisan Racing Team (Japan), Bridgestone Anchor (Japan), MNCF Continental, LeTua Cycling Team, Malaysian Armed Forces, Terengganu, Trek Marco Polo Cycling Team (China), Giant Asia Racing Team (Taiwan), Doha Team (Qatar), Ride Sport Racing (Australia), Savings & Loans Cycling Team (Australia), Jelly Belly Cycling Team (USA), Tinelli Colossi Cycling Team (New Zealand) JazySports-Beacon Philippines (Phillipines).

JM 2009 features a total distance of 1,240km will start its first stage from Kuala Selangor to Ipoh, stage 2 (Ipoh - Sungai Petani), stage 3 (Gerik - Tanah Merah), stage 4 (Pasir Mas - Kuala Terengganu), stage 5 (Kuala Terengganu - Kuantan), stage 6 (Kuantan - Bera), stage 7 (Tanjung Malim - Genting) before ending the race in a Criterium race at Dataran Merdeka.
