GENTING: Local rider Mohd Nor Rizuan Zainal who represents Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) snatched away the sprint title in Stage 7 of 116.2km of Jelajah Malaysia (JM) 2009 today.
The rider who originated from Dungun, Terengganu accumulated 24 points snatch away the green jersey from the hands of Tabriz Petrochemical sprinter Mehdi Sohrabi who kept in five stage consecutively.
"This is the first race I get to don the green jersey and I would like to thank my team and all Armed Forces (ATM) personnel for the relentless support. Before this I was the one who worked and pulled the sprinter but today I managed to add points and snatch the jersey," mentioned the 23-year old rider.
Mohd Nor Rizuan was in fourth place at the first sprint zone in Batang Kali and first at the second and third sprint in Serendah and Sungai Tua.
"At the first sprint zone I should have been in a better position but somehow I hit the reflector by the roadside," he said.
Commenting in comparison in terms of the strength to another local sprinter Anuar Manan, Mohd Nor Rizuan admitted that he is not in the same par as the other is more experience.
"I never aim for the green jersey but more towards winning any of the stages. Nevertheless I will do my best to keep the jersey tomorrow," he mentioned in the press conference today.
